Track and Field is something I went into knowing very little about it apart from it having to do with running. That is everything I needed to know however. I strted this activity in my first year with some of my friends and it immediately became evident that every one of us wanted to beat the others, making my goal to run faster times than my friends. Additionally, some of the running formats were group based, and since there was a tournament planned for the end of the year, my Goals extended to winning something with my school.

Throughout my time at the club, I ran many races against my friends and sadly had to sit out a while due to injuries as well. Unfortunately for me, I was not quite the fastest in any of the formats by the end, instead being close behind one friend or another in both 100 and 400 meters. On top of that, our relays had sofar always been sloppy at best. Regardless, we went into the final tournament with nothing to lose and eager to prove our abilities.

The most challanging part of the competition was the amount of different activities I chose to do. Not realizing how much fatigue I would have I signed up for the 200m race, the 400m race, the long jump, the tripple jump, the 100m relay, and the 400m relay. I know I pushed myself as far as I could in every single race, even if that didn't mean 100% of my ability. The standout race of the day ended up being the 100m relay, in which our relay timings were perfect for the first time ever, we won the race in our group, and got a medal in the overall competition.

Looking back at my time at track and field, I would say I am happy I achieved something, even if my personal performance fell somewhat short of what I would have liked. One way or another, I certainly grew from those experiences, and realized the relentless discipline and commitment needed to attain great athletic achievements. Instead of scaring me off though, this is a motivation for me to push my limits and grow further.
